Android 11 will officially be called Android 11 S.

A Google official has said the new version will “not be available in China.”

In an internal email to Android team members, Google said the release to the People’s Republic would be pushed back from the end of July to at least August 12.

To date, only one variant, the T-Mobile version of the phone, had been sent out for testing.

However the software is also being launched to the Chinese OEMs, with Samsung and LG releasing the phones for pre-sale with Android 12 S by early-August, and T-Mobile the following week with Android 12 S.

The official said that T-Mobile would soon be releasing Samsung’s Galaxy A3, which will have Android 12 S baked in, but the official said it could take several months to have a phone ready.
